The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) observed a group discussing the Quran, not in a formal lecture, but in a lively exchange. He inquired if they bore witness to the truth of the declaration: ‘There is no god but Allah, and I am His Messenger, and this Quran is from Allah.’ They affirmed their testimony. The Prophet then instructed them to rejoice, for the Quran is a treasure both in their hands and with Allah.
Hazrat Ubada ibn Samit relate that they pledged allegiance to the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, agreeing to listen and obey in times of ease and hardship, willingly and even under duress. They committed to prioritizing others over themselves, accepting the leadership of appointed authorities without dissent, and speaking the truth openly, regardless of criticism or consequences. This pledge encompassed a complete submission to divine guidance and a dedication to upholding justice and righteousness.
Dr. Israr Ahmad delineates the distinct yet complementary roles of Allama Iqbal and Quaid-e-Azam in the creation of Pakistan. He emphasizes that Iqbal was the visionary and philosopher who conceived the idea of a separate homeland, while Quaid-e-Azam was the architect and founder who materialized that vision into reality. The Quran possesses two levels of understanding. The first is a surface-level comprehension, readily accessible like oil floating on water after a tanker leak. This represents the primary lessons and wisdom directly present within the text. The deeper level, however, is immeasurable, akin to the depths of the ocean, requiring profound exploration to fully grasp its complexities. Just as measuring the ocean's depths is a challenge, so too is comprehending the full extent of the Quran’s wisdom.
This lecture clarifies the distinction between Allah’s personal name and His attributes. It explains that ‘Allah’ is the sole proper name, while all other names found in the Quran represent divine attributes. By removing the definite article and adding *tanween*, names transform into descriptive qualities. For example, ‘Al-Qadir’ is a name, but ‘Qadir’ or ‘Qadeer’ is an attribute. Similarly, ‘Al-‘Alim’ is a name, while ‘Alim’ or ‘‘Aleem’ is a quality. Essentially, names serve as indicators of a being, and Allah's personal name is unique.
