Expanding one’s intellect through the study of science, philosophy, and logic is crucial for comprehending the wisdom within the Quran. True benefit lies not only in acquiring this knowledge but also in sharing it with others. The greatest wealth is the ability to disseminate this understanding, and the greatest service to humanity is to guide others toward divine direction. This pursuit of knowledge, and its subsequent sharing, is the highest form of generosity and selfless service.
Our core belief regarding the Quran is threefold. First, the Quran is the direct word of God. Second, it was revealed to Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. Third, it is perfectly preserved, complete and unaltered, with God Himself guaranteeing its protection. These three statements encapsulate our fundamental understanding of the Quran.
This lecture discusses the Islamic perspective on charitable giving and the rights of heirs. A companion of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) inquired about donating all his wealth for the sake of Allah. The Prophet advised against leaving heirs destitute, emphasizing their rightful share. The companion then proposed donating half, then a third, with the Prophet accepting the one-third contribution as appropriate. This highlights a balanced approach to charity, respecting both the act of giving and the welfare of one’s family.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) defined religion as sincere advice and goodwill. He emphasized that this goodwill should be extended to God, the Quran, the Prophet himself, the leaders of the Muslim community, and the general populace. This includes offering sound counsel and preventing wrongdoing. The Prophet also stressed the importance of helping others, even those who are wrongdoers. He clarified that assisting a wrongdoer does not mean supporting their injustice, but rather restraining them from their harmful actions. This act of preventing injustice is itself a form of assistance. It is an act of *enjoining good and forbidding evil*.

The practice of twenty rak'ahs connected to Isha prayer originated during the Caliphate of Umar ibn al-Khattab, an innovation aimed at unifying diverse congregations. While some, like the Ahl-e-Hadith, maintain the original eight rak'ahs, the majority of Sunni schools (Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi'i, Hanbali) follow Umar's practice, citing the principle of adhering to the traditions of the Prophet and the rightly guided Caliphs.
