True *tawakkul* involves making an effort and then trusting in God's plan. The lecture underscores the importance of balancing effort with faith and understanding that means are essential, but God's decree is ultimate.
Dr. Israr Ahmad explains the significance of *suhoor* (pre-dawn meal) in Islam. He highlights that *suhoor* distinguishes Muslim fasting from that of the Jews. Fasting begins at dawn, not sunrise, allowing time for the meal. He cautions against excessive strictness in observing the timing of *suhoor*, referencing the Prophet Muhammad’s emphasis on ease and avoiding unnecessary hardship in religious observance. The practice should be approached with balance and moderation, prioritizing accessibility and avoiding overly rigorous interpretations.
When the Prophet Muhammad arrived in Medina, he observed that the Jewish community fasted on the tenth of Muharram (Ashura), commemorating the day the Israelites were saved from Pharaoh and his army. They explained this was a day of thanksgiving. The Prophet stated that Muslims, as followers of Moses, had a greater right to commemorate this event. He instructed Muslims to fast on both the ninth and tenth of Muharram to distinguish themselves from the Jews, who only fasted on the tenth. This practice marks the beginning of observing days of worship based on the traditions of earlier communities present in Medina.
This lecture emphasizes unwavering faith in Allah's support and power. It asserts that no harm can befall a believer except what is decreed by Allah, and no benefit can be achieved without His will. The core message is that true peace and security come from complete reliance on Allah, knowing He is always present and capable of overcoming all obstacles.
