685 - AL MUJADALAH (Ayat# 01-04)
Surah Al-Mujadilah addresses crucial societal and marital matters, particularly regarding disputes and the importance of upholding justice within the Muslim community. The central theme revolves around establishing Allah’s system of 'adl and qist – justice and equity – which necessitates a collective effort, a 'hasb Allah' (those relying on Allah). The Surah highlights the contrast between those who strive for justice and those who succumb to the influence of Shaytan and his forces. Guidance is provided to the believers on maintaining purity of character, avoiding slander, and diligently verifying information before taking action. A key incident discussed is that of Khawlah bint Tha’labah, whose complaint to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) led to a revelation concerning the prohibition of 'Zihar' – a severe form of divorce – and the need for reconciliation. The Surah emphasizes that the strength of righteousness ('nki') is essential for overcoming evil and maintaining a just society, and that weakness in faith allows falsehood to prevail.
