Our core belief regarding the Quran is threefold. First, the Quran is the direct word of God. Second, it was revealed to Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. Third, it is perfectly preserved, complete and unaltered, with God Himself guaranteeing its protection. These three statements encapsulate our fundamental understanding of the Quran.
Supplication (du'a) should be directed solely to Allah. Seeking help from anyone other than Allah – be it prophets, messengers, angels, saints, or any created being – nullifies the act of worship. While seeking physical assistance within the natural laws of the world is permissible, requesting the unseen or miraculous from anyone besides Allah is strictly forbidden. True supplication involves asking Allah alone for all needs, both material and spiritual. Seeking aid from others in worldly matters is different from asking for the impossible or supernatural from anyone besides the Creator.
This lecture explores the concept of attaining spiritual proximity to God through the practice of *nawafil* (voluntary prayers). It details how consistent devotion can lead to a state where the devotee experiences God’s presence in their senses—seeing with God’s sight, hearing with God’s hearing, acting with God’s hands, and walking with God’s feet. This concept, supported by a *hadith qudsi*, signifies a profound level of spiritual union and is acknowledged even by those who may not traditionally align with Sufi interpretations. This lecture critiques the modern banking system, arguing it is fundamentally based on interest (riba) which constitutes a declaration of war against God and His Messenger. The speaker asserts that the claim a system cannot function without interest is an expression of disbelief in God’s knowledge and provision. It implies either God was unaware of a future where interest-free systems would be necessary, or He prohibited something essential. The Quran is structured into groups of verses – Makki (Meccan) and Madni (Medinan). The structure implies seven primary divisions within the Quran, alternating between Makki and Madni verses to comprehensively explore each subject. During the days of Hajj, the Prophet Muhammad encountered six individuals from the Khazraj tribe. These men had heard rumors from Jewish communities that the final prophet would appear among them and that they would ultimately defeat their enemies. They had consistently lost conflicts with Jewish communities. When invited to Islam by the Prophet, they recognized the fulfillment of these prophecies and immediately accepted the faith, fearing being left behind when the Jews converted. This event demonstrates the power of divine guidance and the swift acceptance of truth by those destined to believe.
