Every conscious human being has a purpose, an ideal, or an inspiration in life. They strive to achieve this ideal through effort and perseverance. A person without purpose is akin to an animal, living solely on instinct and fulfilling basic needs like eating and reproduction. Animals exist based on instinct, lacking a higher purpose. Such a life is considered base. The Quran emphasizes that a life devoid of purpose is animalistic. True humanity lies in having a defined goal and striving towards it.

Expanding one’s intellect through the study of science, philosophy, and logic is crucial for comprehending the wisdom within the Quran. True benefit lies not only in acquiring this knowledge but also in sharing it with others. The greatest wealth is the ability to disseminate this understanding, and the greatest service to humanity is to guide others toward divine direction. This pursuit of knowledge, and its subsequent sharing, is the highest form of generosity and selfless service.

Human thought profoundly influences behavior, character, and deeds. Conversely, a person’s actions and character significantly shape their thinking. If knowledge and intellectual growth are not accompanied by corresponding action, a decline in character and thought can occur. A disconnect between intellectual understanding and practical application leads to stagnation and potentially a regression in personal development. Actions and character have a direct impact on one’s intellectual and spiritual progress.

The most prominent expression of goodness is selfless service to humanity, driven by compassion. This includes prioritizing support for family, orphans, the poor, travelers, those in need, and freeing the oppressed. Good deeds are not merely for worldly reward, but for eternal recompense.

The history of Islam and Muslims reveals a pattern of rise and decline. Initially unified, Islam flourished during the Rashidun Caliphate. Post-Caliphate, while Islam experienced decline, Muslim power continued to ascend, reaching its peak. Subsequently, Muslims also faced decline, followed by a resurgence. The Tartars, despite inflicting immense casualties on Muslims, ultimately converted to Islam and became its champions. Successive Turkic dynasties—Timurids in India, Safavids in Iran, Seljuks in the Middle East, and Ottomans—led Islamic power for centuries. The Ottoman Caliphate held prominence for four hundred years, before ultimately declining after World War I.
