After witnessing a powerful earthquake, the Israelites questioned God’s plan. Moses pleaded for mercy, reminding God of their deliverance from Pharaoh and their current vulnerability. God responded by explaining the nature of His mercy: a universal mercy encompassing all creation, and a specific mercy reserved for those who follow His Messenger, the unlettered Prophet. This highlights the distinction between God's boundless compassion and the blessings bestowed upon the faithful who adhere to divine guidance.

The text details the historical origins of sectarian division between Shia and Sunni Muslims, attributing it to Abdullah Ibn Saba, a figure who emerged during the early Islamic period. Ibn Saba is accused of falsely claiming divine status for Hazrat Ali, sparking discord and ultimately laying the foundation for the Shia-Sunni split. He presented himself to Hazrat Ali and his followers, proclaiming him God, and even offered to be burned alive as a test of faith, a claim Hazrat Ali rejected and threatened with punishment. The text asserts this event is the root cause of the ongoing division.

The observance of fasting on the 9th and 10th of Muharram is a recommended practice, not obligatory. This practice originated from a desire to distinguish Muslims from the Jewish community of Medina, who fasted on the 10th of Muharram commemorating their liberation from Pharaoh. The Prophet Muhammad, acknowledging a greater connection to Moses, instructed his companions to fast for two days – the 9th and 10th – to differentiate their practice. This was before the obligatory fast of Ramadan was established. The fast serves as a voluntary act of worship with historical and communal significance.

Its greatest miracle in the modern world is its power to instigate a monumental revolution in human history, establishing a just system. This transformation occurred entirely through the message of the Quran, and its continued invitation is through its verses.

A nation possessing divine scripture and law, claiming to follow the messenger of God, becomes God’s representative on Earth. However, if its actions contradict this claim, it becomes worse than non-believers and invites divine punishment. The lecture emphasizes that merely professing faith is insufficient; practical adherence to divine principles is crucial for fulfilling the role of a representative nation and avoiding God’s wrath. This highlights the profound responsibility borne by a nation claiming religious affiliation.

The Quran, as divine speech, reflects the complete personality of its speaker – Allah. The eloquence and depth of language reveal the speaker's knowledge, sophistication, and the heights of their thought. It is a complete representation of divine attributes, offering insight into Allah’s characteristics, wisdom, and the breadth of divine understanding. The very nature of speech embodies the speaker’s status, intellect, and the scope of their perception. Consequently, the Quran serves as a perfect manifestation of Allah’s complete personality and attributes.
